VAG READER You need this reader to clear codes. You can unhook the battery , but that will not clear the stored codes in your ECU. They will reappear in time. This is a very valuable tool to use. Well worth the cost. If you use a generic code reader that is not a VAG reader you will only read generic codes for OBD II systems. This reads Volkswagen codes specific to Volkswagen products.
